Sustainable Asphalt Recyclate Base Course
Spies, Karel ; Tanečková, Pavlína
In the construction industry nowadays, it is the concepts such as sustainability, recycling, emission and energy reduction which are coming to the fore. This article follows the same path, looking at the design of new, recycled road subbase layers. These layers are almost 100% composed of recovered reclaimed asphalt, crushed to the appropriate fraction. This reclaimed asphalt is either mixed with a suitable binder, heated to a low temperature, or a combination of both effects occurs. The research described in this paper is partially related to the newly developed standard ČSN 73 6147 Cold recycling of pavement structural layers [1]. The aim of this research is to economically and environmentally reuse reclaimed asphalts of lower quality, specifically in the subbase layer of pavements. Otherwise, this precious material is mainly used for the backfilling of roadsides.
Urban analysis and public space theory for the 21st century
Tanečková, Pavlína ; Boulaz,, Ivana (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor)
The main topic of this bachelor thesis is teory and analysis of public space. This work deals with analysis of trends and public space which i salso analyzed. This thesis begins with fundamental characteristics of Nový Jičín, it’s area and history. This characteristics is followed by theory based on thoughts and principes of Danish architect and urbanist Jan Gehl and Czech architect and urbanist Jan Jehlík. Jehlík’s theory deals with complex approach to tasks of an urbanism that deals with whole spectrum of forms of public spaces. This part is focused on form and types of places. Next topic is analysis of trends of living, secure, and sustainable city built on physical perception of public space, with emphasis on psychical perception of a human located on it. This part is based on ideas of Jan Gehl. Practical part of this thesis are analyzes of Masaryk’s square in Nový Jičín. The main goal of these analyzes is evaluation of the square’s actual condition and quality of life. Analyzes consist of individual parts such as broader relations of the space and it’s continuity in terms of it’s city layout, functional analysis and a level of civil.
The use of asphalt recycled materials in the base and subbase layers of pavements
Tanečková, Pavlína ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
This thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part gathers available information on the current state of construction and demolition waste management. This part discusses foreign experiences with SDW management, provides basic information on the introduction of circular economy. Equally important is the environmental impact, which is discussed from the perspective of Decree No 283/2023 Coll. It also provides basic information on construction and demolition waste and describes the recycling process. It also discusses the most common types of recyclates and their use in roads. The practical part of this thesis verifies the possibilities of using asphalt recyclates and their mixtures cemented with asphalt emulsion or hydraulic binder. The main objective was to verify the possibilities of using these recyclates in cemented subbase layers for urban roads. These possibilities were verified and then compared by means of laboratory tests. Finally, a comparison of cemented mixtures of asphalt recyclates with specific binder dosage and low temperature heating of the mixture for optimum compaction to the desired strength values using recyclates is made.
