Partly service oriented systems.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze current state of Service Oriented Architecture, describe maturity of some products on the market and to make forecast of future trends based on gained experience. Service Oriented Architecture is a wide term and may have deep impact on many activities in modern enterprise. Development, which led to this architecture from IT point of view, together with most used standards, is summarized in theoretical part of this thesis. The stress is put on standards connected with process management and integration of human tasks into processes. Practical part of this thesis is focused on feasibility study of creating document management system. It concentrates on analysis of current situation and design of extending the system with external process management. Implementation work was made to prove ability to connect those systems using standards from theoretical part of this thesis. During the implementation were discovered that some components fail to satisfy those standards and therefore it was necessary to make some changes in communication layer. However, the hypothesis that current products are mature enough was proved to be true.

SOA Governance

The thesis is focused on administration and supervision of Service oriented architecture (SOA). The main idea of SOA is system decomposition to functional units, which contain bounded and well understandable functionality. This functionality, in form of service, is provided to other units through clearly described interface. Well-identified relationships between service provider and service consumer are created. SOA governance aims to manage these relationships, to monitor quality of services and to control adherence of stated rules and policies. These rules and policies are established by central team responsible for integration and architecture development. Starting point of successful architecture development is acquaintance of service portfolio and their inter-relationships. Each service should go through whole formal life-cycle, which particular phases have special policies applied. Main interest is devoted to run-time phase - run-time monitoring and run-time governance. Theory is complemented by practical examples of report generation and service monitoring with SLA adherence observation. The thesis also contains structural model of SOA governance taking into account infrastructural elements of SOA and information flows between them.

Architektura orientovaná na služby, je přístupem k budování flexibilní a agilní architektury aplikací, která bude schopna v krátkém čase a s nižšími náklady reagovat na změny požadované ze strany businessu. Aby však organizace skutečně v SOA získala zdroj konkurenční výhody, je třeba zaměřit se kromě aplikací a architektury i na jejich správu a řízení IT se zohledněním specifik, které SOA do této oblasti přináší. Mezi hlavní podmínky efektivního provozu SOA patří optimální implementace procesů, organizační opatření a nástroje pro správu a monitoring architektury, aplikací a podpůrné infrastruktury. Předmětem této práce je poskytnutí celkového pohledu právě na roli procesů a nástrojů pro správu architektury orientované na služby a modelový příklad řízení SOA v telekomunikační firmě.
