Strength training in bodybuilding from the perspective of a physiotherapist
HOJDAROVÁ, Ema
This bachelor thesis focuses on strength training in bodybuilding from the perspective of a physiotherapist, with the aim of providing a useful guide for physiotherapists and bodybuilders for safe and effective strength training. The thesis provides an overview of various aspects of strength training, such as physiological and biomechanical factors, training structure, recovery, and special attention is given to exercise technique, strength training methods, and recommended procedures for minimizing the risk of injury. Another part of this thesis evaluates selected strength exercises and their impact on the health of bodybuilders, as well as the benefits these exercises can bring. In addition, various widely spread myths in the field of strength training are discussed. The main goal of the thesis is to map common mistakes in performing strength exercises, introduce physiotherapy as a prevention of functional disorders and injuries in fitness bodybuilding, and observe changes in muscle imbalances after correcting exercise mistakes. The practical part of the thesis was conducted in the form of qualitative research based on input and output case studies of three subjects, including kinesiological analysis, dynamic spine tests, Trendelenburg test, Adams' forward bend test, examination of selected shortened muscles according to Janda, selected movement stereotypes according to Janda, selected tests from the DNS concept, photographic comparison, and examination on a posturography device. This provided data, which is presented and compared in the Results chapter. Based on the data obtained from the initial examinations of the subjects, a compensatory training unit was developed, which the subjects trained with. The results of the research should serve, among other things, as a presentation of the benefits of cooperation between a physiotherapist and an athlete.
