Youth colloquial language in Spain: a didactic proposal for the ELE classroom
DOMÍNGUEZ CÁCERES, Diego
Despite the interest that many Spanish students have in it, youth colloquial language is often left out of educational programs of Spanish as a foreign language. The present work consists of a brief study of the colloquial youth language of Spain and its possible application in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. The first part, of a theoretical nature, aims to provide a series of definitions that delimit the phenomenon and verify how this type of content is regarded in official curricula. Below is a note about its origins and relationship with the counterculture, and a series of morphological and lexical-semantic features that are useful to characterize the youth colloquial variety. The second part, more practical, includes a didactic unit that has been designed for young adult students of level B2 or higher and who are or intend to be in a situation of linguistic immersion in Spain and the description of the unit and its activities.
