BRABENCOVÁ, Marcela
This diploma thesis introduces an important, but today a not very well known character, Catholic priest Karel Alois Vinařický (1803-1869). Thanks to not very known sources it reconstructs his place in the Czech revivalist society of the 19th century. The aim of this thesis is to present a compact picture of his life based upon the social roles that he held in the society, and through that to introduce his character in a different guise than it has been introduced up till now. The first chapter of this presented work gives us a basic introduction of the character of Karel Alois Vinařický, with his literary works and his own self reflexes. In the following chapters Vinařický is presented as a loving and beloved family member, an exemplary priest, a dauntless participant of revolutionary events of the year 1848 and further on as a constitutive member of the imperial assembly, a relentless worker in the field of Czech education and a person with brittle health. The last chapter brings us a view upon how the tradition connected with the name of Karel Alois Vinařický started and also how it developed. Attention is also dedicated to how much is known about his character nowadays carried out through a research questionnaire. The final summary of literature including the annexes should enable an individual research and help understand the described features. This work is a partial contribution to the studies of 19th century society and its findings and resulting conclusions can be used for further research in this field.
