Social Impacts of the Execution of Custody on the Accused Persons

The thesis deals with the issue of execution of custody and the social impacts of execution of custody on accused individuals. The aim of the thesis is to acquaint the reader with the Prison Service of the Czech Republic (hereinafter referred to as the "Prison Service") and the specifics of execution of custody, describe the social impacts of remand, and highlight possible ways to prevent and minimize their negative phenomena from the perspective of accused individuals in execution of custody. The theoretical part of this thesis is dedicated to the characteristics of the Prison Service, the issue of institute of remand, the life of the accused in prison, social work with the accused, professional prison staff and the social impacts. For the research in the practical part, a strategy of quantitative research was chosen. Within this strategy, a survey method utilizing anonymous questionnaire technique was selected. The research was conducted in the Remand Prisons České Budějovice, Liberec, Olomouc, Remand Prison and Institute for the Execution of Secure Detention Praha Pankrác and the Prison Plzeň. The results of the research summarized in the discussion showed that there is a difference between the frequency of contacts and the assessment of relationships with family members before and during execution of custody. Conversely, no dependence was proven between the length of execution of custody and loss of employment, or between the length of execution of custody and the growth or emergence of debts. The thesis can serve as a comprehensive overview of the issue of execution of custody and its social impacts. The information obtained may be beneficial for understanding this issue by relatives, professional staff of the Prison Service, and other individuals who come into direct contact with accused persons, as well as accused individuals and their close relatives. The thesis emphasizes the importance of considering social aspects within the criminal justice system and may contribute to the discussion on possible reforms or provide recommendations for improving conditions, support, and services during execution of custody with regard to the needs of the accused and the society as a whole.
Abortion and Euthanasia according to the Criminal Law

The topic of this bachelor work is an abortion and euthanasia according to the criminal law. To the issue of abortion and euthanasia is currently devoted increasing attention and we can assume, that it will continue in the future. This topic is discussed not only by professional, but also the general public. The reasons of discussion are various, it dominate recent media reports that discussion largely encouraging. This is very interesting, difficult and contradictory issue, which is connected to many social disciplines. We can view this topic from the medical, legal, psychological, religious and ethical perspective. The objective of this work is to explain the principle of abortion and euthanasia in conjunction with basics of protecting human life, which are based on the provisions of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms. Special attention is devoted to their position in the Czech legal system, especially in criminal law. Bachelor work is divided into two main chapters, the first of them is devoted to abortion and second to euthanasia. The introductory part of each of these chapters is aimed to provide the necessary information about the terminology. Also I deal with its historical progression and the position in selected European and non-European countries. The issue of abortion in our country governs the Czech National Council Act no. 66/1986 Coll., about abortion and the Ministry of Health Decree no. 75/1986 Coll., implementing the Czech National Council Act no. 66/1986 Coll., about abortion. Abortion is possible only in cases set by the legislation; its breach may have criminal consequences. Euthanasia is illegal in terms of the Czech law and the punishment for this crime is regulated by Act no. 40/2009 Coll., The Criminal Code. Each country solves the problem of abortion and euthanasia in different ways, the result is generally the criminal legislation, which is often very different.
