Čestmír Gregor: The Piano Compositions of the Composer

In my thesis, I introduce a complete list of piano works by Čestmír Gregor, a contemporary Czech composer of modern classical music. 1 have tried to define his compositional techniques and sources of inspiration by analysing the individual pieces of music. I have found that the major features of the author's highly unique style are polyphonic thinking, the development of motives from small nuclei, expressive themes, plastic tunes, inventive work with rhythm, and the absence of a tonal centre which he compensates for by distinctive melodies . The author finds his inspiration in folklore, especially Moravian (Leoš Janáček), the works of Czech interwar avantgardě (Pavel Borkovec) and in jazz (Jaroslav Ježek). His music reflects the emotional states of a man living in the twenty-first century whose life style is predominantly determined by an urban environment. Gregor does not use any of the Musica Nova theories, instead he founded his own music language. The basis for his compositions is communicative music, which follows the patterns of human perceptive psychology. Significant personalities of the Czech piano pedagogy of the twentieth century

The work "Significant personalities of the Czech piano pedagogy of the twentieth century" is part of a long-term research focused on Czech piano pedagogy and its development in the twentieth century. The individual chapters deal with pedagogical competencies of prominent personalities of our piano pedagogy, taking into account the tradition and interdependence of secondary and tertiary education focused on the natural cultural metropolis of Prague and Brno. Part of this is the history of the establishment and activity of individual musical institutes. Biographical medallions are devoted to significant personalities with data of their own artistic development, concert and pedagogical activities, used pedagogical methods and the results of their work, including the most successful pupils. The work also includes the activities of pedagogues within the long-term work at other conservatories as well as personalities of Czech pedagogy who have been educated at our institutes but worked abroad. Based on the summary of all the acquired knowledge, an outline of generation continuity and development of the Czech piano pedagogy of the twentieth century is elaborated. Contribution of Contemporary Composer Educators to the Development of Children's Musicality

This dissertation deals with the contribution of contemporary composer educators to the development of childrenʼs musicality. In the first chapter it touches on the theme of important pedagogical representatives in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia in the 17th to 19th centuries, and briefly stops at our nation's teacher, Jan Ámos Komenský. The following chapters contain a questionnaire and the treatise on the life and educational activity of contemporary Czech composers and educators Eduard Douša, Emil Hradecký, Milan Dvořák, Jiří Pazour and Tomáš Sýkora. The main source of my information was a personal interview with each one. The goal of my work was to outline the key influences of music teachers on the child's spiritual and emotional development from the 17th century to the present and to answer the question "What personality features can be a positive influence on music students of any age?". Tackling Primary Music School Students'Practicing Issues Using Contemporary Piano Teaching Methods

Presented master thesis tackles common piano practicing issues among students at the first stage of piano learning. The main purpose of the study is to investigate the difficulties that block students' progress, and analyze proper approaches that improve students' musical capabilities. The practicing issues are scientifically categorized into three categories: technical, interpretative and general practicing and performing issues, and are further analyzed from physical, psychological, and most importantly, educational perspective. In addition, contemporary piano teaching methods from various countries are explored and various methodologies and teaching philosophies are investigated and presented. Effective approaches, suitable strategies and practicing suggestions are provided in the study for both teachers and learners. Chinese piano educators can use this study to enrich their teaching methodologies and to develop new piano teaching methods.
