Female Characters in Select Jakub Arbes' Romanettos

This bachelor's thesis' content consists of an analysis of three romanettos - Sivooký démon, Zázračná Madona and Akrobati - and in particular a characterisation of their main female characters - Regina, Ismena and Eldora - also with regard to their literary uniqueness. In first two chapters is given a short summary of Arbes' life relevant to his literary work and romaneto as a genre is described. This serves as a basis for analysis of select romanettos and for determining attributes typical for the genre. The female protagonists in chosen romanettos are described in detail with the help of citations. Some techniques used in portrayal of female characters are in Arbes' work identical with the techniques used on male characters (choice of name, education sufficient for scientifically solvable plot), but the majority is unique. All female protagonists are beautiful, mysterious and good, able to bond with people and to give empathy. Despite of originating in poor conditions, they have tremendous power in influencing their surroundings solely with their personality. Prosaist Vilém Mrštík belonged to the most important writers of 90th ages of 19th century. He was a initiator of new movement in literature - naturalism. He occupyed onself with translation activity, prose, drama and also with poetry. He enrolled for consciunsness of public novel called Pohádka máje and on not least siries drama Maryša whereat cooperated his brother Alois Mrštík. Aim: This thesis wants counterpoint gains of Vilém Mrštík in progress czech modern prose. Herewith also apprise with his life, with his near friends and the least with his literary ctivity.

Heroines of Růžena Svobodová's selected prosaic works

Diplomová práce předkládá analýzu ženských postav Růženy Svobodové. Základem charakteristiky hrdinek se stalo pět prozaických děl autorky. Práci lze rozdělit na dvě části- syntetickou a analytickou. V první části je obsažen stručný nástrin života Svobodové, problematika postavení žen ve společnosti 19. století a emapncipace. Analytická část předkládá charakteristiku vybraných postav, seznamuje čtenáře s jejich životními názory a postoji. V závěru práce je podáno shrnutí jednotlivých typů hrdinek.

Woman in the poetry of Karel Šiktanc

This diploma work presents the life, development of opinions and the work of contemporary Czech poet Karel Šiktanc whose poetry is inspired by middle- Czech village and countryside, especially by its traditions and order. History in the sense of historical facts and events but also capturing traditions and memories through the process of remembering is essential for Šiktanc. The work is focused on the mentioned collections of poems. The goal of this work is to find various images of woman in the poetry of Šiktanc. The image of woman is traditional and it can be divided into a few types and subtypes, the main types being woman-mother and woman-lover. Differentiating into types is supported by citation of verses. The image of woman is interconnected with the Earth, the home-country and earth as soil as well as with memory and traditions.

Contemporary Narrative Prose from the Lives of Children

Současná příběhová próza, tedy próza vznikající od 90. let 20. století, je přirozeným fenoménem, který se tříbil již od počátku 20. století. Její vývoj prošel mnohými úskalími a je zachycen v první kapitole. První kapitola také shrnuje charakteristické znaky současné příběhové prózy s dětským hrdinou. Druhá kapitola Příběhová próza ze života dětí od 80. let 20. století do současnosti přibližuje námětové obsahy próz, které vyšly v tomto období a zamýšlí se, podle jakých měřítek díla třídit. Třetí kapitola Námětové okruhy se snaží utřídit prózu podle vybraných měřítek. Nejrozsáhlejší skupinou jsou prózy zabývající se mezilidskými vztahy. Sem patří námětové okruhy Děti z rozvrácené rodiny, Sourozenecké vztahy, Ideál přátelství. Další mnohem menší oddíly jsou věnovány prózám, které se zabývají péčí o zvíře, vyrovnáváním se hlavního hrdiny s vlastním zdravotním omezením nebo které líčí prázdninové dobrodružství. Zcela samostatnou kapitolu tvoří příběhy s fantazijními prvky. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje charakterizačním postupům ve sledovaných prózách Markéty Zinnerové, Hany Doskočilové, Martiny Drijverové, Ivy Procházkové a Ivony Březinové. Karel Sabina, a prose-writer and a literary critic

V diplomové práci jsem se zaměřila na díla Karla Sabiny - na prózy zajímavé z hlediska vývoje české prózy 19. století. Na jednotlivá období Sahibovy tvorby jsem pohlížela i v souvislostech s jeho životními osudy a s politickými událostmi 19. století. Soustředila jsem se na prózy, které ovlivnily tehdejší českou literaturu. Pokusila jsem se ukázat jeho šíři aktivit v oblasti literární, politické a společenské. Karel Sabina byl rozporuplnou osobností, avšak svou tvorbou byl vždy na předních pozicích vývoje. Činnost řečníka, politického tribuna lidu a spolu s naukově politickou publicistikou spoluurčovaly celkový ráz jeho tvorby prozaické. Byl teoretikem romantismu, vykladačem díla Karla Hynka Máchy, beletristou, autorem libret, literárním kritikem a publicistou.

Klostermann¨s bohemian forest. The picture of the Bohemian Forest in Klostermann's tales and novels

Thema dieser Diplomarbeit ist die Darstellung des Böhmerwaldes und seiner Bewohner im Werk von Karl Klostermann. Zur Analysis sind Klostermann's Romane Ze světa lesních samot, V ráji šumavském, Kam spějí děti, Skláři und zwei Zyklen der Erzählungen V srdci šumavských hvozdů a Odysea soudního sluhy benützt. Das Ziel war der Böhmerwald als Ganzes, seine Veränderungen im Laufe der Zeit und seine eigenartige Bewohner im Klostermann's Werk. V Einzige Werke sind aus dem Genregesichtspunkt analysiert. Beachtung schenke ich auch den literarischen Anfängen des Schriftstellers, seiner künstlerischen Entwicklung und schriftweiser Reife. In dem Erzählungschaffen richte ich vor allem auf die Personen, die verschiedene Typen der Böhmerwaldbewohner darstellen, im Fall des Romans prüfen wir hauptsächlich die Darstellung der Böhmerwaldlandschaft und ihr Einfluss auf ihre Bewohner, die hier leben. Die bedeutendsten Romane, die sog. Böhmerwaldtrilogie bilden, sind als selbstständige Kapitel verarbeitet und diese Kapitel bilden den Kern der Diplomarbeit. Am Ende der Arbeit charakterisiere ich noch kurz Klostermann's Schaffen als Ganzes und ich versuche seine Darstellungen des Böhmerwaldes mit Darstellungen anderer Schrifststeller, z. B. Autorka diplomové práce se snaží interpretovat dílo Fráni Šrámka od počátků tvorby k dramatu Měsíc nad řekou. Hlavním cílem je vyzdvihnout základní momenty, témata a motivy, které souvisejí se Šrámkovým postojem k mládí a životu. V jednotlivých kapitolách se zabývá motivy Šrámková díla - dětstvím, dospíváním, láskou, sexualitou, rodinou, generačními problémy, školou a jejich vlivem na mladého člověka. Autorka se snaží přiblížit Šrámkovo dílo člověku nového tisíciletí a upozornit na to, že i dnes lze z jeho tvorby čerpat mnoho podnětů, jejichž význam se v kontextu doby, nemění. Josef Karel Šlejhar - an attempt at a memoir

Resumé The thesis is trying to remind the personality and work of Josef Karel Šlejhar - an important novelist of a break of the 19th and 20th century, who is actually being left out by current literacy and literary public. The base of this thesis is to present the author as a remarkable personality, who stigmatised his novels by a number of autobiographical features and who enriched Czech literature with extraordinary and spirit, profound works. The author's life is being reconstructed through the Šlejhar's inheritance, which is placed in the archive of the Literary Museum of National Literature. Attachments brings scanned originals of certain Šlejhars' personal documents. Authentic testimony of the author is brought by means of the extracts from his diaries and correspondence, we refer to the relevant testimonies of novelisťs friends, respectively. A lot of attention is also devoted to the questions of inc1usion of Šlejhar's work in the context of one style trends. The Forms of Autobiography. Přestupný rok - Disiecta membra - Let let

This doctoral thesis is concerned with autobiographical forms, their general characteristics as well as with three examples of Czech works of art that prove how difficult it is to make that general characteristics and show various kinds of autobiographical narrative. It aims to show the often heterogeneous character of the so- called autobiographical genres, and present some approaches in their study. In the opening chapter, we define the term autobiography or autobiographical form in regard to literary history and theory, and special attention to Czech research in this field. We concentrate on the genre specifics of autobiographical forms, the opposition of "literary" and "authentic" diary, the term "autobiographical pact" coined by Philippe Lejeune and several patterns of autobiographical memory introduced by James Olney. The key aspect of our study is the nature of autobiographical form derived from the subject's style and illocutionary acts, i. e. stylization as defined by John Searle followed by Jean Starobinski or Paul de Man.
