Sellner, Filip ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Knotková, Vladimíra (referee)
Foreign policy of Turkey has undergone many changes in the past ten years, during the reign of the political party called Party of justice and development. Original orientation to European Union while neglecting relations with the countries of the Near East has changed. Nowadays, Turkey is an ambitious state which wants to play an important role not only in its immediate surroundings. Foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoglu aims his foreign policy to keep contact with partners from the NATO but he also tries to stay independent in decisions in order to expand into other markets. Trade policy and cultural exchange are the key means of the development of Turkey with a goal of becoming regional power. At present it is not possible to fulfil zero problems policy with neighbours with regard to the situation in Syria or disagreements in settlement of Iranian nuclear program. We can observe progress in relation with Russia and China up to the level of strategic partnership. Considering wide range of Turkish foreign policy, the goal of this work was to evaluate whether Turkey, in relation to other states, is a regional power these days. The means of evaluation were creating characteristics of a regional power and analysis of current Turkish foreign policy.

Development of geoeconomic situation in Asian- Pacific region i also considered in the thesis. At the beginning of the millenium the relations between USA and Taiwan were prospering due to new approach of president Bush, but under influence of global political issues, he gradually changed his attitude toward Taiwan. On contrary Bush from the beginning of his tenure did not maintain such warm relation with China, however he changed his approach significantly after 2001. Pejchal, Vladislav ; Trávníčková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Knotková, Vladimíra (referee)
As a result of the melting of the Arctic sea ice, new nautical opportunities are opening up in the area of the Arctic. This bachelor thesis deals with what is called the "Northwest Passage" - an opening maritime route which connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Currently, the harsh climatic conditions limit the navigation and the economic use of the Passage. However, due to the speed in which the ice is melting, smooth navigation through the Northwest Passage can be expected in a mere few years. Canada and some other countries (primarily the U.S.) have had a dispute about the extent of the Canadian sovereignty in the area of the Passage. This thesis tries to fully cover the issue of the Northwest Passage sovereignty, as well as to find an answer to the question whether the dispute between Canada and U.S. can be solved in the near future.

Impacts of China's rise to power on the security dimension of international relations
Koudelková, Tereza ; Knotková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Druláková, Radka (referee)
The world order is determined by the character of its constituents, their importance and their mutual relations. The position of respective constituents is, however, subject to constant changes which, by implication, transform the whole order. Such changes could have significant impacts on security. The current system of international relations is fundamentally affected by the rise of China. China gradually strenghtens its postition and becomes more and more involved in international affairs. This thesis, therefore, intends to identify impacts of China's rise on the security dimension of international relations. The opening part aims to define security dimensions. The following part adresses the characteristic of Chinese foreign policy which determines China's international behaviour. The closing part analyzes concrete impacts concerning military, political, economic, environmental, social and cultural, energetic, technological and infrastructural security. The author attempts to anticipate a theoretical development of the international system that could take place in the first half of the 21st century.
Causes of creation and impacts of conspiracy theories: a case study of the culture and the political environment of the USA
Scheiner, Miroslav ; Knotková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
Conspiracy theories make an impression of irrational constructs. Their origin and essence, however, have a highly rational explanation. Understanding conspiracy as a major motive force of the key historical events has its roots in a natural human perception of the world order. Such a view of reality is particularly widespread in the U.S. This thesis uses its example to identify sources of conspiracy beliefs stemming from culture, political environment and influence of new medias. The thesis also examines impacts of conspiracy theories in the U.S. It does so by pointing out their capability of determining players' actions, undermining the american government's activities, manipulating public opinion and instigating violence.
