Těšitel, Jan ; Kušová, Drahomíra ; Bartoš, Michael
Nuclear power plant of Temelín is a phenomenon influencing almost all aspects of life of local population. The article is based on comparison of selected results gained within two sociological surveys, one conducted in the year of 1993 and the other in 2003. Relation of local population to the nuclear power plant was one of key issues addressed in both surveys. Perception of the nuclear power plant proved to have changed over time. The shift can be named „from danger to anxiety“. The main factor keeping population anxious about nuclear power plant seem to be a fact that the plant is visible from everywhere, representing thus „visual contamination of environment“ of some kind.

Těšitel, Jan ; Kušová, Drahomíra ; Matějka, K. ; Boháč, J. ; Bartoš, Michael ; Kopáčková, M. ; Moravcová, Jana ; Šrubař, Vladan
The project was aimed to propose a model of optimal coexistence of biodiversity protection and socio-economic development in large-scale protected areas. Its main output was identification of principles of participative management of protected areas and estimation of circumstances necessary for its practical implementation. The project focused on description of biodiversity in particular model areas, on eventuality of changes in biodiversity due to human activities and thus on identification of actual and potential conflicts. In parallel, selected parameters of quality of life of local population, behaviour the population and its relation to the Administration of protected area and to nature protection in general were studied. Analysis of behaviour of the administration of protected areas as social institution became also part of the project. The project was designed as empirical comparative study of three biosphere reserves (BR) - BR Šumava, BR Třeboňsko a BR Křivoklátsko.

Kušová, Drahomíra ; Těšitel, Jan ; Bartoš, Michael
Press is a part of mass communication providing the public with information and symbolic contents. It always reflects the supposed interest of the public in concrete problems and it mediates social control of the institutions which are responsible for the particular spheres. On the basis of the content analysis of the regional press in South Bohemia we can state that citizens do not perceive the problem of public greenery as urgent and thus this topic is not very frequent in the media. People mainly observe if public greenery is in good shape. The number of organisms to be encountered in urban environment by greenery users is not large according to the press.
Amenitní migrace a turismus
Bartoš, Michael ; Kušová, Drahomíra ; Těšitel, Jan
Amenity migration is new global phenomena. It is a specific type of migration which is not motivated by economic prosperity – it has been brought about by the desire to render more valuable natural or socio-cultural environment of the target territory, and it exists from metropolitan to rural areas. This phenomenon has been strongly supported by the spread of mass information technologies and. Under specific conditions it can become one of societal driving forces determining the socio-economic development of the given region. It seems that tourism play crucial role in formation of amenity migration. It precedes amenity migration being, as a rule, regarded its initial form.
Local traditions from the point of view of the host community and Šumava Mts. visitors
Těšitel, Jan ; Kušová, Drahomíra ; Bartoš, Michael
Sociological survey within the project "Strategy of sustainable development of the Šumava Biosphere Reserve" covers a broad range of traditions preserved in particular villages within the Šumava Mts. region. According to this survey 90% of local population claim that certain traditional habits exist in their village. On the other hand, interest in local tradition is also demonstrated by empirical results concerning the visitors to the region. These results were obtained during a questionnaire survey related to the project "The role of tourism in the Šumava Mts.region development". Only less than 30% of the visitors encountered some form of local tradition. Comparison of the results of both surveys showed certain disproportion between the potential and its realization. Our study aims at the evaluation of the extent to which local traditions actually contribute to tourism development within the region.
