Tchaj-ti cchüan and its use in work with seniors
Bendová, Kateřina ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Eliáš, Vojtěch (referee)
The topic of this paper is a traditional Chinese health and exercise system called Tchaj-ťi čchüan. In the first chapter I introduce the system's philosophical roots, Taoism, and its connection with social work, and, due to fundamental differences between eastern and western modes of thoughts, I seek to give context, and make understandable the thoughts of and origins of tchaj-ťi. Next I describe what tchaj-ťi means, and a bit about its history. Because Tchaj-ťi has many different schools, it is important to describe each main style, as they all comprise the totality. The following chapter is a description of various styles of Tchaj-ťi art. The fourth chapter is a human connection of its physical and spiritual dimension. Physical dimension is important as spiritual and Tchaj-ťi connects both of them so that person can develop both of them equally. The next part is a discussion of the practical usage of tchaj-ťi, in particular with seniors. The chapter following is about Taoist tchaj-ťi, and is instrumental in giving some examples of this art playing a role in social work. The last chapter concerns my personal experiences with tchaj-ťi čchüan, and observations coming from my personal involvement. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Stanovení antioxidačního statusu u potkanů při zkrmování pšenice Citrus
Bendová, Kateřina
This thesis examines the influence of wheat Citrus with higher content of lutein in comparison with common wheat on antioxidant activity of the rat blood plasma and liver tissue. In the experiment, 32 male rats of Wistar strain were used. The influence of the feeding of yellow wheat varieties Citrus on antioxidant activity was measured in the blood and liver tissue. The experimental group (N = 16) was fed with dried granules of 100% wheat meal from Citrus. The control group (N = 16) was fed with similar feed prepared from two common wheat. Content of crude protein was the same in the both group. Body weight gain were followed in three-day intervals and feed consumption was followed daily. Antioxidant activity was measured by DPPH, FR, FRAP and ABTS methods. Values are expressed in gallic acid equivalent. In the blood significant differences (P < 0.05) of antioxidant activity was determined only by ABTS method between "Citrus" group (405.51 +- 7.64 mg /ml) in comparison to "Control" group (479.99 +- 22.54 mg/ml) in contrary to expectation this value of control group was of 18% higher. Values of other antioxidant methods were not significant. In the liver tissue only average value of ABTS method was little higher in Citrus group (409,439 +-13,626) in comparison with control group (389,493 +- 9,271 mg/ml). Similar situation was with DPPH method (20.711 +- 0.867 in Citrus group and 20.037 +- 1.109 mg/ml in the Control group) and difference was also not significant (P> 0.05).
Alternative lifestyle option as being satisfied
BENDOVÁ, Kateřina
The topic of this diploma thesis is Alternative lifestyle as a form of content human existence. This thesis is focused on specification of subculture and I defined the subculture of homeless people, which as I assumed and also as my own research data showed, can demonstrate the content form of human existence. The theoretical part of this thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter constitutes a theoretical scope of this thesis where I put emphasis on social norms and theory of social deviation, which are crucial for homeless people who are demonstrating alternative lifestyle which is significantly different from the lifestyle of mainstream conformist society. Second chapter describes characteristics of homelessness. The third chapter includes procedure of help to homeless people in their life situation. There are also stated social services for homeless people. The last chapter is focused on the alternative lifestyle. I also deal with the topic of voluntary homelessness. The aim of this diploma thesis is description of aspects of lifestyle of the observed subculture of homeless people. The target group consists of 20 homeless people in age from 18 to 70 years. A method of qualitative approach was applied and a method of analysis of case studies was used for data collection. The main technique of data collection was an interview with directions which I used with 10 homeless people who were in asylum house and with 10 homeless people who were present directly at the public areas. In the context of this thesis five research questions were determined. The primary data was coded/indexed and then processed with the framework analysis according to Ritchie and Spencer. The outcomes of the research showed that the most frequent reason for the origin of homelessness is alcohol addiction. Most frequently it is related to single or divorced man and women. The daily regime of homeless people is from a greater half regular. Among the most frequent daily activities in the asylum house can be mentioned watching television, cleaning common areas of the asylum house, fixed activities and drinking coffee. The outdoor activities mostly constitute of collection of metal, cooking, shopping for food and searching the garbage bins. They usually spend winter nights in facilities of social services (doss house, asylum house), in a tent, in makeshift shanties, or in a squat. Most people spend their days with their friends or partners. People who live in public areas are more willing to make some extra money. There was three times higher experience with begging of the people who live in public areas than people who live in asylum houses. People in asylum houses usually pay for day board meals. People who live outside in public areas procure their food in supermarkets, day centres and doss houses and in garbage bins. For homeless people nicotine addiction is more frequent than alcohol addiction. They perform their personal hygiene in the facilities of social services (day centre, doss house, asylum house). They usually get their clothes from social or asylum clothes supplies. They do not live in relationships with partners however people who live in the public areas have more sexual contacts. More than half of respondents do not think about their future. People who live in asylum houses are more satisfied with their life situation, nevertheless more than half of respondents would like to change their life situation. On basis of the results of this research theoretical concepts were induced.
Subjective perception of the supply of social services for the homeless people by this target group in selected regions of the Czech and Slovak Republics
BENDOVÁ, Kateřina
This Bachelor Thesis deals with subjective perception of the offer of social services for the homeless by this social group in selected regions of the Czech and the Slovak Republics. The theoretical part deals with the characteristics both of the people without shelter and of the whole phenomenon of homelessness. The work lists the individual types of social services for homeless people and describes the facilities operating at the territory of the cities of Havířov and Žilina. The practical part was implemented at the territory of two cities, Havířov and Žilina. The aim of the practical part was to identify the offer of social services for the homeless by this social group in Havířov and Žilina. I tried to reach the set goal by means of qualitative research, questioning method. The target sample consisted of people without shelter and by social workers. The technique of semi structured interview consisting of 11 open questions was used for the homeless people. For the social workers I hose the technique of non-structured interview. The research results show that homeless people do not have sufficient information on the services being offered. Sanctuary houses/dosshouses were the mostly used services. Lack of funds is the reason for not using social services. There are differences between Havířov and Žilina both in the offer and in the use of social services for people without shelter. The homeless people said they did not lack any service. The information obtained from the respondents may be provided to organizations dealing with the homeless people. The interviews with the people without shelter might help them in seeking for assistance. The thesis may be used as input for further research and as educational material.
