V úvodní části se tato práce zabývá důvody, které motivují firmy pro investování v zahraničí a také riziky, která jsou obecně s mezinárodním podnikáním i přímo s přímými zahraničními investicemi (PZI) spojená. Hlavní náplní práce je pak charakteristika současných globálních trendů vývoje PZI, a to z několika úhlů pohledů - všeobecného, teritoriálního, sektorového či z hlediska politik států v oblasti ovlivňování PZI. Zkoumán je rovněž vliv současné finanční krize na PZI. Jednotlivé problémy jsou dokumentovány na praktických příkladech. The reasons that motivate companies to invest abroad (foreign direct investment, or FDI) and also the risks associated with FDI and international business in general are discussed. Current global trends in FDI are covered with emphasis on general, territorial and sectoral trends as well as state policy influences. The impact of the current financial crisis on FDI is also examined. Practical examples are discussed to reinforce individual ideas and theories.
