Tato práce sleduje vznik a vývoj vojenských hudebních souborů na českém území, a to zejména v období po roce 1620, kdy nacházíme první zmínky o těchto tělesech. Mapuje jejich rozvoj, zvláště za doby Rakousko-Uherska. Popisuje dění kolem vojenských kapel, jejich společenské uplatnění a vliv na kulturní a hudební život. Věnuje se tématům souvisejícím s existencí vojenských hudeb, například vzniku vojenského pochodu a vojenského hudebního školství. Dokumentuje spolupráci významných českých skladatelů a dirigentů s vojenskými kapelami. Popisuje, mimo jiné, též vznik československých legií za doby 1. světové války. Sledované období této diplomové práce končí rokem 1918. This work follows the birth and evolution of military musical ensembles in Bohemia, especially in the period after 1620, where there can be found first traces of these ensembles. It monitors their development particularly in the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It describes military bands' events, their social function and influence on cultural and musical life. It pays attention to themes related to the existence of military bands, e.g. the origins of military marches and military musical education system. It documents the collaboration of eminent Czech composers and conductors with military bands. It describes, among other things, the formation of Czechoslovakian legions during the World War I. The followed period of this work ends in 1918.
