V obou případech byly vyvinuty vhodné systémy a ověřen koncept možnosti nezávislé detekce výměny iontů.
The aim of this work was to develop an organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) and an organic electronic ion pump (OEIP) for use in biomedical applications. The development of OECT was carried out using material research and device design and the study of their influence on characteristic parameters. First, a method of preparing an organic semiconductor layer based on PEDOT:PSS (poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) was developed, allowing the creation of sufficiently conductive and stable layers for use in animal cell culture conditions. Subsequently, the effect of changing the design and parameters of the device components on the transconductance of the OECT was investigated. The result of these studies was an OECT with a transconductance of 108 mS. This value is one of the highest published values so far, despite the fact that PEDOT:PSS with lower conductivity was used. In the next part, devices were developed to study ion exchange or transport in OECT and OEIP. These devices were prepared and modified so that they could be electrically controlled and monitored while also monitoring changes in ion concentration using absorbance and fluorescence. In both cases, the correlation between the optically acquired data and the electrical response data was confirmed. In both cases, suitable systems were developed and the concept of independent detection of ion exchange was verified.
