Současná podoba kolektivní paměti na covid-19: narativní analýza v pražských rodinách

This qualitative research investigates the collective memory of COVID-19 pandemic among families in Prague six years after the initial outbreak. By employing narrative hermeneutics and Paul Ricoeur's model of three mimeses, the study examines the remembrance of the crisis alongside the circumstances, causes and factors contributing to the contemporary manifestation of collective memory. The primary objective of this research is to document the pandemic's legacy in the Czech context at this temporal juncture while identifying salient findings for further inquiry. From the analysis, several major themes consistently appear across all familial units - fear, the role of media and government, societal transformation, and socialization. A central pillar of this collective remembrance is fear - driven by both personal proximity to the virus and "information overload" from the media - which functions as the primary determinant for the intensity of memory retention. Furthermore, the study identifies a growing tension between a persistent state of "hauntedness" in traumatized individuals and an emerging "social amnesia" within the broader public.
