Resekuritizace hranic v Schengenu: Rámování migrace a kontrol hranic v České republice a na Slovensku

This thesis examines how irregular migration was discursively securitized by political elites in the Czech Republic and Slovakia during the 2023 increase in transit migration, and how this securitization related to Schengen border governance. The analysis focuses on a period marked by intensified movement along the Western Balkan route and the reintroduction of internal border controls within the Schengen area. Drawing on critical discourse analysis of political communication, the study examines Facebook posts of four key government actors between August 2023 and February 2024. The findings show that in both countries migration was consistently framed as a security issue, primarily through references to illegality, criminal activity, and the need for control. However, the form of securitization differed. In the Czech Republic, discourse was framed in institutional and governance-oriented terms, whereas in Slovakia it was more explicit and oriented toward threat construction. In both cases, securitization was closely linked to the justification of border control measures, including the reintroduction of internal border checks and the emphasis on strengthening external EU border protection.
