This thesis examines China's interests in the Arctic and how they influence the regional balance of power between Russia and NATO in the context of a transforming security environment. Applying neorealist balance of power theory and the concept of sea power, the thesis explores how China's material and technological capabilities affect the distribution of power in this specific region. The main objective of the thesis is to assess, based on existing literature, whether China's activities in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and scientific research serve as a tool of external balancing that strengthens Russian seapower and compensates for its deficits caused by international sanctions. The analysis shows that China's presence strengthens Russia's position in the Arctic, thereby disrupting the existing status quo and upsetting the current balance of power in the region. The thesis thus contributes to the discussion on the end of Arctic exceptionalism and identifies the Arctic as another potential area for global tension. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá zájmy Číny v Arktidě a tím, jaký mají vliv na regionální rovnováhu moci mezi Ruskem a NATO v kontextu transformujícího se bezpečnostního prostředí. S využitím neorealistické teorie rovnováhy moci a konceptu námořní moci práce zkoumá, jak čínské materiální a technologické kapacity ovlivňují distribuci moci v tomto specifickém regionu. Hlavním cílem práce je, na základě existující literatury, posoudit, zda čínské aktivity v oblastech energetiky, infrastruktury a vědeckého výzkumu slouží jako nástroj externího vyvažování, který posiluje ruskou námořní moc a kompenzuje její deficity způsobené mezinárodními sankcemi. Analýza ukazuje, že čínská přítomnost upevňuje ruskou pozici v Arktidě, čímž narušuje stávající status quo a narušuje tak dosavadní rovnováhu moci v regionu. Práce tak přispívá k diskusi o konci arktické výjimečnosti a identifikuje Arktidu jako další potenciální ohnisko globálního napětí.
