eng Abstract:
[eng][cze] This diploma thesis examines the possibilities of using Qatar's energy exports as an instrument of foreign policy and potential energy weaponisation. It focuses primarily on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and investigates under what conditions Qatar can exercise energy coercion against importing states or its alternatives. The thesis draws on theories of energy security, energy weaponisation, and small state theory, which it connects with empirical analysis of Qatari export relations. Methodologically, it combines quantitative analysis of trade and energy data with qualitative assessment of diplomatic relations, infrastructure, and the degree of dependence of selected countries. The findings show that Qatar possesses significant export influence particularly in the area of LNG, however its ability to use energy as a traditional instrument of coercion is limited by import diversification, domestic production of some states, and the functioning of the international market. The thesis also concludes that Qatar employs rather indirect forms of influence based on using revenues from energy exports to support broader foreign policy and soft power strategies. Metodologicky kombinuje kvantitativní analýzu obchodních a energetických dat s kvalitativním posouzením diplomatických vztahů, infrastruktury a míry závislosti vybraných zemí.
