eng Abstract:
[eng][cze] This doctoral thesis deals with entertaining combinatorial problems, random walks on graphs, and their connections with resistance distances. It focuses on a certain chip-firing process known as the probabilistic abacus, and shows its connection with counting arborescences of graphs. A considerable portion of the dissertation is devoted to the calculation of the winning probabilites in the game of Pass the Buck. Another major topic is the calculation of resistance distances in electrical networks, in particular on complete graph joins and hypercubes. The final part contains new identities for k-Fibonacci numbers, in particular closed formulas for their convolutions. 1
