Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na téma homoerotického ideálu mužského těla v obraze a ve fotografii. Práce se zabývá především hypermaskulinním ideálem mužského těla, jenž byl nejhojněji rozšířen ve druhé polovině 20. století. Práce se na příkladech děl zahraničních autorů snaží objasnit, jak takový ideál vypadal a proč byla hypermaskulinita dobře přijata homosexuální komunitou. Dále je v práci odhaleno, zda se v Československu vyskytovali umělci či umělkyně, kteří se alespoň okrajově dotýkali tohoto tématu. Cílem je zjistit, proč byla 80. léta 20. století definována prostřednictvím hypermaskulinity v homoerotickém umění a jakou roli hrálo sebevyjádření v homosexuálním umění v době, kdy se o sexualitě nehovořilo otevřeně. Nejprve jsou v práci představeny pojmy, jež jsou podstatné pro správné pochopení celého tématu, jedná se o gender art, queer art, gay art, hypermaskulinitu, fetišismus, touhu a chtíč. Poté je představena historie gay artu od jeho počátků v 50. letech 20. století a jeho následné šíření například skrze časopisy. Není opomenuta ani situace v Československu ve druhé polovině 20. století a obecný dopad epidemie HIV/AIDS na queer umění ve světě. V historii reflektuji vliv queer umění na populární kulturu. V práci je rozvíjena i myšlenka umění jako prostředníka k přihlášení se k... The thesis focuses on the theme of the homoerotic ideal of the male body in painting and photography. It primarily examines the hypermasculine ideal of the male body, which was most widespread in the second half of the 20th century. Through selected works by international artists, the thesis aims to clarify what this ideal looked like and why hypermasculinity was well received within the homosexual community. Furthermore, the thesis explores whether there were artists in Czechoslovakia who at least marginally engaged with this topic. The goal is to determine why the 1980s were defined by hypermasculinity in homoerotic art and what role self-expression played in homosexual art at a time when sexuality was not openly discussed. The thesis first introduces key concepts necessary for understanding the topic, including gender art, queer art, gay art, hypermasculinity, fetishism, desire, and lust. It then outlines the history of gay art, from its beginnings in the 1950s and its subsequent spread, for example through magazines. It also considers the situation in Czechoslovakia during the second half of the 20th century, as well as the broader impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on queer art worldwide.
