The aim of the thesis is to analyse the level of awareness, attitudes, and personal experiences of lower secondary school pupils in relation to the use of addictive substances such as nicotine, marijuana, and kratom. The theoretical part focuses on defending the concept of an addictive substance, and the consequences of use from biological, psychological, and social perspectives. It also includes a description of the ontogenetic characteristics of pupils during adolescence. The practical part is based on quantitative research conducted through an anonymous questionnaire among pupils in the 8th and 9th grades of primary school. The research sample consisted of 21 respondents, including 11 boys and 10 girls. The obtained data were processed using descriptive statistics, particularly through absolute and relative frequencies, percentage expression, graphical presentation, and selected contingency tables. The results showed that 67 % of respondents had already tried a products containing an addictive substance, however, regular use was not confirmed in the studied sample.
