Diplomová práce se zabývá obrazem prvního funkčního období Margaret Thatcherové v deníku Rudé právo v letech 1979 až 1983 a jeho srovnáním s historickou realitou. Cílem práce je analyzovat, jakým způsobem byly v periodiku prezentovány osobnost Margaret Thatcherové a její kroky v domácí i zahraniční politice. Na základě analýzy jednotlivých tematických okruhů bylo zjištěno, že Rudé právo vytvářelo systematicky negativní a ideologicky podmíněný obraz Thatcherové jako představitelky "reakční" a "proburžoazní" politiky. V oblasti domácí politiky byl kladen důraz především na negativní sociální dopady ekonomických reforem, zejména růst nezaměstnanosti a sociální napětí. Sociální konflikty a vztah k odborům byly interpretovány jako důsledek represivní politiky vlády. V zahraničněpolitických tématech, jako byla válka o Falklandy, situace v Severním Irsku či vztahy se Sovětským svazem a Spojenými státy, byl obraz utvářen prostřednictvím silně hodnotícího jazyka a selektivního výběru informací. Thatcherová byla často prezentována jako agresivní aktér nebo jako podřízený spojenec USA. V rámci otázky jaderného zbrojení byla Thatcherová vykreslena jako nepřítel Sovětského svazu. The thesis examines the portrayal of Margaret Thatcher's first term in office in the newspaper Rude pravo between 1979 and 1983 and compares it with historical reality. The aim of the thesis is to analyse how both the figure of Margaret Thatcher and her domestic and foreign policy actions were presented in the press outlet. Based on the analysis of individual thematic areas, it was found that Rude pravo consistently constructed a systematically negative and ideologically conditioned image of Thatcher as a representative of "reactionary" and "pro- bourgeois" politics. In the field of domestic policy, emphasis was placed primarily on the negative social impacts of economic reforms, in particular rising unemployment and social tensions. Social conflicts and relations with trade unions were interpreted as a consequence of the government's repressive policies. In foreign policy topics, such as the Falklands War, the situation in Northern Ireland, and relations with the Soviet Union and the United States, the image was constructed through strongly evaluative language and selective presentation of information. Thatcher was often portrayed as an aggressive actor or as a subordinate ally of the United States. In relation to nuclear armament, Thatcher was depicted as an enemy of the Soviet Union.
