This thesis examines the representation of women's sport in the sports news coverage of public service broadcasters in the Czech Republic and Slovakia during the 2026 Winter Olympics. It is divided into four parts. The theoretical section introduces key concepts relevant to understanding the media representation of women's sport, such as public service media and their role in sport, the media representation of women in sport, and the Olympic Games as a media event, and reviews the research that has shaped this academic field. The methodological section describes the specific steps and procedures of the quantitative content analysis, including the coding process and the variables examined. The results of the analysis are then presented in the analytical section and illustrated with graphs and tables. The analysis of 627 segments showed that men's sport dominated in terms of the number of segments, though not in their average length. Both broadcasters prioritised coverage of domestic athletes, and women appeared predominantly in stereotypically feminine sports. The concluding discussion connects all findings to the broader social context, outlines the limitations of the research, and proposes directions for further study in this area.
