cze Abstract:
Modern recommender systems achieve high accuracy thanks to latent representations, yet these representations are often opaque and difficult for users to control. This thesis aims to design and evaluate an approach that improves interpretability and enables in- teractive influence over recommendations in the domain of points of interest (POI) by integrating sparse autoencoders into a collaborative filtering model. The proposed solu- tion transforms dense user representations into sparse factors that can be semantically described and used for interactive recommendation steering. A large language model is used for automatic factor labeling and for generating concise explanations. The practical outcome of the thesis is a functional web application prototype and an offline evalua- tion that analyzes the trade-off between steerability and the preservation of predictive recommendation quality.
