cze Abstract:
[cze][eng] Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou fenoménu shell shock v britském prostředí v období první světové války a v letech bezprostředně následujících. Cílem je objasnit proměny chápání válečného traumatu v lékařském, vojenském a společensko-kulturním prostředí. Metodologicky je výzkum založený na komparativní historické analýze a obsahové analýze dobových pramenů, což umožňuje sledovat vývoj diagnostických metod i uměleckého odrazu traumatu. Prostřednictvím rozboru lékařských studií Charlese Myerse, vojenských záznamů a děl Siegfrieda Sassoona či Wilfreda Owena text rozebírá posun od organického vysvětlení k uznání psychogenního původu onemocnění. Práce odhaluje rozpor mezi pragmatickými požadavky armády na udržení bojeschopnosti, reprezentovanými konceptem "forward psychiatry" a striktním systémem disciplíny, jenž psychické zhroucení často interpretoval jako zbabělost či dezerci. Společensko-kulturní perspektiva výzkumu mapuje narušení viktoriánského ideálu mužnosti a roli válečné literatury při formování "ztracené generace". Předkládaná práce přispívá k porozumění historickým kořenům moderní psychiatrie a zároveň osvětluje vývoj shell shocku k dnešnímu pojetí posttraumatické stresové poruchy. This bachelor's thesis analyses the phenomenon of shell shock in the British context during World War I and in the years immediately following. The aim of the thesis is to clarify the shifts in the understanding of war trauma in medical, military, and socio-cultural context. Methodologically, the research is based on comparative historical analysis and content analysis of primary sources. Through an analysis of Charles Myers' medical studies, military records, and the works of Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen, the text explores the transition from organic explanations to the recognition of the psychogenic origin of the illness. The study reveals the contradiction between the army's pragmatic demands for maintaining combat readiness, represented by the concept of "forward psychiatry", and a strict system of discipline that often interpreted mental breakdown as cowardice or desertion. The socio-cultural perspective of the research traces the disruption of the Victorian ideal of masculinity and the role of war literature in shaping the "lost generation". This study contributes to an understanding of the historical roots of modern psychiatry while also highlighting the evolution of shell shock into today's concept of posttraumatic stress disorder.
