cze Abstract:
Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit a popsat, jakou roli hrají média v každodenním životě lidí bez domova a jakým způsobem bariéry a omezení ovlivňují přístup k nim. This bachelor's thesis examines the significance of the media for homeless people. The aim of the research was to identify and describe the role the media plays in the daily lives of homeless people and how barriers and limitations affect their access to it. The thesis is based on a qualitative approach and employs the thematic analysis method developed by Braun & Clarke. The main source material consisted of seven semi-structured interviews with clients of a Prague-based nonprofit organization working with homeless people. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of homelessness and its typology, describes the functions of the media and presents them in relation to homelessness, highlights the digital and knowledge divide, and examines the media representation of homelessness. The data analysis revealed three main themes: the media as a tool for navigating the world, unequal access to the media in the age of digitalization, and the relationship between the media, identity, and the social image of homelessness. The results showed that the media are important to homeless people and serve informational, emotionally stabilizing, social, and identity-forming functions. However, access to the media is unequal; homeless people face structural barriers, lack of internet access, and varying...
