Diplomová práce se zabývá pracovními podmínkami mladých novinářů v českých médiích a jejich vnímáním novinářské profese v kontextu vztahu mezi očekáváními a realitou. Teoretická část vychází z konceptualizace žurnalistiky jako profese, semiprofese a řemesla, reflektuje profesní sebepojetí novinářů a širší strukturální proměny mediálního prostředí, označované jako krize žurnalistiky. Zohledňuje rovněž perspektivu žurnalistiky jako sociálního pole. Empirická část je založena na kvalitativním výzkumu v podobě polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se čtrnácti novináři ve věku 20-30 let, které byly analyzovány pomocí tematické analýzy. Výsledky ukazují, že mladí novináři často vstupují do oboru s idealizovanými představami, jež jsou následně konfrontovány s náročnou realitou každodenní práce, formovanou zejména nevyhovujícími pracovními podmínkami a redakční kulturou. Mladí novináři jsou tak nuceni vyvažovat profesní naplnění s ekonomickou a osobní udržitelností své práce, což vede k přehodnocování jejich setrvání v oboru a případným odchodům. Přesto si většina respondentů zachovává pozitivní vztah k profesi, kterou nadále vnímají jako smysluplnou a společensky významnou. This master's thesis examines the working conditions of young journalists in Czech media and their perception of the journalistic profession in the context of the relationship between expectations and reality. The theoretical part draws on the conceptualization of journalism as a profession, semi-profession, and craft, and reflects on journalists' professional self- conception as well as broader structural transformations of the media environment, often referred to as the crisis of journalism. It also considers journalism from the perspective of a social field. The empirical part is based on qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews conducted with fourteen journalists aged 20-30, which were analysed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that young journalists often enter the field with idealized expectations that are confronted with the demanding reality of everyday work, shaped primarily by inadequate working conditions and newsroom culture. As a result, young journalists are forced to balance professional fulfilment with the economic and personal sustainability of their work, leading them to reconsider their continued engagement in the field and, in some cases, to leave it.
