Závislost na návykových látkách představuje závažný zdravotní, psychologický i sociální problém. V prostředí ústavního ochranného léčení, kde je autonomie pacientů omezená, hrají klíčovou roli motivy ovlivňující jejich rozhodnutí usilovat o abstinenci. Cílem práce bylo analyzovat motivaci mužských pacientů v ústavním ochranném léčení k abstinenci a identifikovat konkrétní motivy, které tuto motivaci ovlivňují. Zároveň ji interpretovat ve spojitosti v rámci teoretické části práce, včetně zařazení do kontextu fází procesu změny dle modelu Prochasky a DiClementeho. Výzkum měl kvalitativní, explorativní charakter. Data byla získána prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s 18 dospělými muži v ochranném léčení závislosti a analyzována pomocí tematické analýzy. Výsledky ukazují, že motivace k abstinenci představuje komplexní a dynamický proces, který se pohybuje na kontinuu od vnější přes kombinovanou až po vnitřní motivaci. Vnitřní motivace se přitom jeví jako stabilnější a více spojená s připraveností ke změně, zatímco vnější motivace souvisí s nižší mírou uvědomění problému a vyšší závislostí na okolních faktorech. In the context of institutional protective treatment, where patients' autonomy is limited, the motives influencing their decision to pursue abstinence play a key role. The aim of this thesis was to analyze the motivation of male patients in institutional protective treatment toward abstinence and to identify specific motives that influence this motivation. At the same time, these findings are interpreted in connection with the theoretical part of the thesis, including their placement within the stages of change according to the model of James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente. The research had a qualitative, exploratory design. Data were collected through semi- structured interviews with 18 adult men undergoing protective treatment for addiction and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results show that motivation for abstinence represents a complex and dynamic process that exists on a continuum from external through combined to internal motivation. Internal motivation appears to be more stable and more closely associated with readiness for change, whereas external motivation is linked to a lower level of problem awareness and a greater dependence on external factors.
