Sucho představuje jeden z nejvýznamnějších abiotických stresorů omezujících růst, vývoj a země- dělsky významný výnos rostlin. V posledních letech se výzkum zaměřuje na hledání nových stra- tegií, jak eliminovat negativní působení tohoto stresoru na rostliny. Jako nový perspektivní bioma- teriál se ukazuje nanochitosan kombinující vlastnosti nanočástic a přírodního polymeru chitosanu. Tato práce zahrnuje shrnutí a hodnocení dosavadních poznatků o možném vlivu nanochitosanu na odpověď rostlin vůči suchu. Výsledky analyzovaných studií opakovaně prokazují, že aplikace nano- chitosanu příznivě ovlivňuje klíčové parametry odolnosti rostlin vůči suchu, jako jsou výnos a růstové charakteristiky, relativní obsah vody, akumulace osmoprotektivních látek, obsah fotosynte- tických pigmentů, aktivita enzymatických i neenzymatických složek antioxidačního systému i mo- dulace genové exprese. Účinnost ošetření se ovšem liší v závislosti na použité koncentraci nano- částic, způsobu aplikace, druhu a kultivaru rostliny a intenzitě vyvolaného vodního deficitu. Přímé srovnání studií je komplikováno rozdílností experimentálních přístupů, zejména různými metodami simulace sucha a jejich dobou, rozpětím užitých koncentrací, ošetřením v různých vývojových fázích rostlin a rozdílným experimentálním prostředím. Přestože se... Drought represents one of the most significant abiotic stressors limiting the growth, develop- ment, and agronomically important yield of plants. In recent years, research has been focused on identifying new strategies to mitigate the negative effects of this stressor on plants. Nano- chitosan, combining the properties of nanoparticles and the natural polymer chitosan, has emerged as a novel and promising biomaterial. This work provides a summary and evaluation of current knowledge on the possible influence of nanochitosan on the response of plants to drought. The results of the analyzed studies repeatedly demonstrate that nanochitosan appli- cation positively affects key parameters of plant drought tolerance, such as yield and growth characteristics, relative water content, accumulation of osmoprotective substances, content of photosynthetic pigments, activity of enzymatic and non-enzymatic components of the antioxi- dant system, and modulation of gene expression. However, the efficacy of the treatment va- ries depending on the concentration of nanoparticles used, the method of application, the plant species and cultivar, and the intensity of the induced water deficit.
