Úloha spádových lymfatických uzlin v protinádorové imunitní odpovědi

Lymph nodes are well-characterized hubs of immune response development. In recent years, however, research attention was predominantly pointed toward the tumor microenvironment and its crucial role in shaping antitumor immunity. Notably, it has been shown that within solid tumors, specialized regions known as tertiary lymphoid structures can form and contribute to local immune activation. Nonetheless, the full picture of communication between tumor and its lymph node is still missing in the current scientific understanding and poses unresolved questions on mechanisms underlying antitumor response development. This bachelor's thesis explores the role of lymph nodes in the development of antitumor immunity in comparison with immune elements of the tumor microenvironment, describes the contribution of immune cell trafficking and summarizes the current state of knowledge with respect to their relevance in clinical cancer immunotherapy. Furthermore, it aims to address whether tertiary lymphoid structures play an indispensable role that surpasses that of secondary lymphoid organs, or whether they act rather as supportive bystanders in tumor immunology.
