Americký monzunový systém je diskutovanou monzunovou cirkulací v částech Severní a Jižní Ameriky. Tato práce popisuje dva pohledy na vymezení monzunu. Z použité literatury vyplývá, že cirkulace v Americe nesplňuje podmínky otočení směru větru, která je pro jeden z pohledů na vymezení monzunu stěžejní. Druhý a novější pohled tuto podmínku jako důležitou nevnímá a oblasti v Severní a Jižní Americe do vymezení monzunu zahrnuje. Pro doplnění k rešerši slouží analýza srážkových dat a dat o větru reanalýzy ERA 5. Výsledky analýzy dat ukazují, že ačkoli roční chod srážek sdílí podobu s monzunovou cirkulací, sezónní obrat větru neodpovídá hodnotám minimálního obratu podle staršího pohledu na vymezení monzunu. Při odpovědi, zda se cirkulační systémy v Severní a Jižní Americe dají považovat za monzuny, záleží na volbě konceptu definice s tím, že tradiční vymezení nepovažuje monzuny v oblasti Severní a Jižní Ameriky za pravé. The American monsoon system is a debated monsoon circulation in some regions of North and South America. This thesis describes two perspectives on the definition of a monsoon. Based on the literature the circulation in the Americas does not meet the criteria for wind direction reversal, which is fundamental to one of the definitional perspectives. The second and newer view on the definition does not regard this condition as essential and includes regions of North and South America within the monsoon definition. To complement the literature review, an analysis of precipitation and wind data from the ERA 5 reanalysis was conducted. The results of the data analysis show that although the annual cycle of precipitation shares characteristics with monsoon circulation, the seasonal wind reversal does not correspond to the minimum reversal values required by the older definitional perspective on the monsoon definition. In answering whether the circulation systems in North and South America can be considered monsoons, the conclusion depends on the choice of definitional concept, noting that the traditional classification does not consider monsoon regions in North and South America to be true monsoons.
