Diplomová práce se zabývá osobností Willyho Brandta a jeho zahraniční politikou v období jeho působení ve funkci kancléře Spolkové republiky Německo v letech 1969 až 1974. Cílem práce je analyzovat podobu, cíle a význam jeho východní politiky (Ostpolitik) v kontextu studené války a zhodnotit její přínos pro vývoj mezinárodních vztahů. Úvodní část se věnuje Brandtovu ranému politickému vývoji, včetně let strávených v emigraci, které významně ovlivnily jeho politické smýšlení. Následující část přibližuje politickou situaci poválečného Německa a proměnu jeho mezinárodního postavení, včetně Brandtova působení ve funkcích starosty Západního Berlína a ministra zahraničí. Hlavní část práce analyzuje koncept Ostpolitik a jeho konkrétní projevy v diplomatických vztazích se státy východního bloku. Práce vychází z analýzy odborné literatury a historických pramenů. Výsledky ukazují, že Brandtova politika vedla k postupné normalizaci vztahů a zmírnění mezinárodního napětí. Klíčová slova Willy Brandt, Ostpolitik, politika détente, západní Německo This thesis examines the figure of Willy Brandt and his foreign policy during his tenure as Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1969 to 1974. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the nature, objectives, and significance of his Eastern Policy (Ostpolitik) in the context of the Cold War and to assess its contribution to the development of international relations. The introductory section focuses on Brandt's early political development, including the years he spent in exile, which significantly influenced his political outlook. The following section examines the political situation in postwar Germany and the transformation of its international standing, including Brandt's tenure as mayor of West Berlin and as foreign minister. The main part of the thesis analyzes the concept of Ostpolitik and its concrete manifestations in diplomatic relations with the Eastern Bloc states. The thesis is based on an analysis of scholarly literature and historical sources.
