Neurální celulární automat je koncept propojující distribuované výpočetní paradigma celulárních automatů s flexibilitou umělých neuronových sítí. Práce představuje základní principy těchto paradigmat a zkoumá dvě pokročilé architektury: hierarchické neurální celulární automaty (HNCA) a grafové neurální celulární automaty (GNCA).
A Neural Cellular Automaton is a concept bridging the distributed computing paradigm of cellular automata with the flexibility of artificial neural networks. This thesis presents the fundamental principles of these paradigms and explores two advanced architectures: Hierarchical Neural Cellular Automata (HNCA) and Graph Neural Cellular Automata (GNCA). Selected representatives of these architectures are compared experimentally in terms of training dynamics, representation, and application across tasks of morphogenesis, homeostasis, and innate regeneration. The results demonstrate that no single architecture universally excels across all criteria, highlighting the necessity for task-driven model selection.
