Cílem bakalářské práce je vymezit koncept technických manuálů a provést analýzu šedesáti vybraných manuálů pro domácí spotřebiče a spotřební elektroniku. Teoretická část práce charakterizuje vlastnosti technických manuálů, jejich účel, cílové publikum, obsah a strukturu. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována stručnosti a srozumitelnosti, protože tyto vlastnosti umožňují uživatelům rychle a přesně porozumět pokynům, čímž se minimalizuje chybovost a zvyšuje bezpečnost a efektivita. Analytická část práce prezentuje a diskutuje výsledky korpusové analýzy vybraných manuálů v online korpusovém nástroji Sketch Engine. Výsledky analýzy ukázaly, že nejčastějšími výrazy, které se vanalyzovaných manuálech vyskytovaly, byly pasivní větné konstrukce, modální slovesa a vágní fráze. Tyto formy často ztěžují přenos důležité informace a oslabují přímou komunikaci mezi autorem manuálu a čtenářem. Práce dále diskutuje vybrané příklady rozvláčných a nejasných vět spolu s jejich zrevidovanými verzemi. The bachelor’s thesis aims to frame the concept of technical manuals, complemented by an analysis of sixty selected manuals for household appliances and consumer electronics. The theoretical part characterizes the features of technical manuals, their purpose, target audience, content, and structure. Particular attention is paid to conciseness and clarity, as these attributes help users understand instructions quickly and accurately, thereby minimizing errors and enhancing safety and efficiency. The analytical part presents and discusses the results of a corpus analysis conducted in the online corpus tool Sketch Engine. The findings revealed that passive constructions, modal verbs, and vague or fancy phrases were the most frequent features in the analysed manuals. These forms often fail to convey essential information clearly and weaken direct writer-reader communication. Additionally, the thesis discusses selected examples of wordy and unclear sentences alongside their revised versions.
