Cílem diplomové práce je návrh revitalizace areálu letiště Brno–Medlánky se zaměřením na galerii sportovního letectví. Mimo samotnou galerii bylo významným tématem také funkční, architektonické a urbanistické uspořádání celého areálu bez narušení stávajícího fungování letiště a podnikajících subjektů v areálu. Výsledkem těchto požadavků je urbanistický návrh areálu letiště Medlánky, revitalizace vybraných objektů, především provozní budovy aeroklubu a výrobny letadel, návrh nových objektů nahrazujících současnou roztříštěnou zástavbu a v neposlední řadě návrh galerie – hangáru pro větroně. Návrh má nejen sjednocující funkci celého areálu, ale současně se snaží zvýšit jeho atraktivitu, popularitu a návštěvnost pro širší veřejnost. Hlavní myšlenkou návrhu bylo „splynutí“ nové architektury se stávající zástavbou, přírodou a atmosférou místa při zachování autentického charakteru letiště a jeho otevřeného krajinného prostředí. Významným tématem návrhu je proto vzájemná vazba a komunikace mezi navrhovanou galerií a stávajícími objekty, které vytvářejí charakteristický genius loci areálu. The aim of the diploma thesis is the revitalization design of the Brno–Medlánky airport area with a focus on a gallery of sport aviation. Besides the gallery itself, an important topic of the thesis is also the functional, architectural and urban organization of the entire area without disrupting the current operation of the airport and the businesses located within the site. The result of these requirements is an urban design proposal for the Medlánky airport area, including the revitalization of selected existing buildings, mainly the aeroclub operational building and the aircraft manufacturing facility, the design of new buildings replacing the current fragmented development, and finally the proposal of a gallery – a hangar for gliders. The design not only serves as a unifying element of the entire area, but also aims to increase its attractiveness, popularity and accessibility for the wider public. The main idea of the proposal is the “blending” of new architecture with the existing buildings, the surrounding landscape and the atmosphere of the place while preserving the authentic character of the airport and its open landscape environment. An important theme of the design is therefore the relationship and interaction between the newly proposed gallery and the existing buildings, which together create the characteristic genius loci of the area.
