This master's thesis focuses on the issue of electrical power components in distribution networks and their evaluation within power quality analyzers, particularly under specific operating conditions such as bidirectional power flows, unbalance, or rapid load changes. As part of this thesis, a software tool was developed in Python that automatically calculates a selected set of components from input records, based largely on the IEEE Standard 1459:2010. The tool performs time aggregation, integration, and sorting of these components, and provides graphical visualization of both the instantaneous waveforms and the individual calculated components. The tool is designed parametrically (e.g., allowing the user to select the measurement window length) and incorporates modules for advanced signal processing, including synchronous resampling and zero-phase digital filtering. The functionality of the software was verified using synthetic data and validated against the reference example provided in the IEEE 1459:2010 standard. Following this successful validation, the software analyzer was used to conduct two analytical studies. These studies demonstrated, through exact numerical results, the physically correct and incorrect approaches to both the time aggregation algorithms for apparent power and the definitions of three-phase apparent power.
