This bachelor thesis addresses the issue of traffic monitoring and the automatic detection of traffic accidents using deep learning techniques. As part of the thesis, a dataset containing data obtained from real traffic was created. Furthermore, object detection and tracking, as well as camera calibration enabling the conversion of image coordinates into metric units, were implemented. Subsequently, a system capable of evaluating traffic situations based on the acquired knowledge was developed, and the accuracy of its predictions were measured. A comparison of the results of the proposed system with current methods used in this field showed that its evaluation accuracy in simpler traffic situations is comparable. In more complex situations, the system outperformed other methods. However, the proposed system is prone to incorrect evaluation resulting from inaccuracies in the object detector and camera calibration. Finally, a user interface was implemented and the resulting system was secured.
