Projekt klade důraz na udržitelnost a energetickou efektivitu prostřednictvím systému tepelných čerpadel země-voda s hlubinnými vrty, fotovoltaického systému a komplexního hospodaření s dešťovou vodou.
This thesis focuses on the architectural design of the new “Galerie Hangár” building. The structure is situated within the authentic setting of the Medlánky Airport complex. The goal of the project is to create a multipurpose building that sensitively integrates technical and operational facilities for gliding with public cultural, educational, and community functions. The main purpose of the building is to connect exhibition spaces for the public with specialized facilities for the maintenance and storage of gliders. The urban design respects the horizontal character of the airport landscape and responds to the specific constraints of the site, particularly the airport’s protection zones and the presence of the critically endangered European ground squirrel. The building’s form combines the industrial archetype of a hangar with the aerodynamic curve of an aircraft wing. The main load-bearing structure is designed as a timber structure made of glued laminated timber. The layout strictly separates operational flows and offers flexible spaces for the main exhibition hall, a model-making club, administrative offices, and a café. The project emphasizes sustainability and energy efficiency through a ground-source heat pump system with deep boreholes, a photovoltaic system, and comprehensive rainwater management.
