This bachelor thesis focuses on the modal analysis of human vocal folds under longitudinal tension, which corresponds to their typical configuration during phonation. The introductory part covers the biomechanics of the vocal apparatus, the anatomy of the larynx, and the structure of the vocal folds. A literature review follows, presenting computational models ranging from basic mass-spring systems to advanced approaches based on continuum mechanics and the finite element method. The core objective of the thesis is to perform a modal analysis of a simplified vocal fold model and to determine its natural frequencies and mode shapes. This work contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamic behavior of vocal folds and provides a foundation for further numerical studies in the field of phonatory biomechanics.
