Diplomová práce navazuje na ateliérový projekt vytvořený v zimním semestru 2. ročníku magisterského studia. Zabývá se návrhem rekonstrukce a dostavby Gymnázia Matyáše Lercha v Brně, včetně úprav navazujícího školního areálu a širšího veřejného prostoru. Cílem práce je vytvořit kvalitnější, přehlednější a funkčně bohatší prostředí pro studenty, zaměstnance školy i obyvatele okolí. Návrh reaguje na současný stav budovy a jejího areálu, zejména na potřebu provozního doplnění, revitalizace venkovních prostor a odstranění nevyužitých či nejasně definovaných míst. Důležitým tématem je práce se svažitým terénem, propojení interiéru s exteriérem a vytvoření nových pobytových, výukových, sportovních a komunitních prostor. Architektonické řešení respektuje původní charakter gymnázia a jeho návaznost na brněnský funkcionalismus, zároveň však přináší současnou vrstvu odpovídající dnešním požadavkům na vzdělávací prostředí. Výsledkem je návrh, který posiluje význam školy jako důležité instituce v území a zároveň ji více otevírá veřejnému životu. This diploma thesis builds on a studio project developed during the winter semester of the second year of the master’s degree programme. It focuses on the design of the reconstruction and extension of Gymnázium Matyáše Lercha in Brno, including the transformation of the adjoining school grounds and the wider public space. The aim of the thesis is to create a higher-quality, more legible and functionally richer environment for students, school staff and residents of the surrounding area. The design responds to the current condition of the building and its grounds, particularly to the need for operational extension, revitalisation of outdoor spaces and the elimination of unused or insufficiently defined areas. An important aspect of the proposal is the work with the sloping terrain, the connection between interior and exterior spaces, and the creation of new areas for study, recreation, sports and community activities. The architectural design respects the original character of the gymnasium and its connection to Brno functionalism, while introducing a contemporary layer that reflects current requirements for educational environments. The result is a proposal that strengthens the role of the school as an important institution within the area and, at the same time, opens it more towards public life.
