Diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem novostavby objektu studentského bydlení v univerzitním areálu VUT Pod Palackého vrchem v Brně. Projekt navazuje na urbanistickou studii zpracovanou v rámci předchozího studia, která definovala základní objemové a urbanistické začlenění objektu do kontextu stávající zástavby. Návrh reaguje na nedostatečnou kapacitu studentského ubytování a omezenou občanskou vybavenost území. Řešené území se nachází v bezprostřední blízkosti fakult Vysokého učení technického a v kontaktu s krajinným zázemím Medláneckých kopců. Architektonické řešení vychází z urbanistických vztahů okolních komunikací a výrazné svažitosti pozemku. Hmota objektu pracuje s ustupujícími podlažími, která reflektují konfiguraci terénu a postupně gradují směrem k pobytovým střešním terasám. Do jejího středu je vloženo poloveřejné atrium, které funguje jako průchozí komunitní prostor a propojuje jednotlivé funkční celky. Objekt na osmi nadzemních podlažích ubytuje 633 studentů a v podzemních podlažích doplňuje 108 parkovacích stání. Ubytování je řešeno formou obytných buněk se samostatným sociálním zázemím a kuchyňkou. Funkci bydlení doplňuje aktivní parter se stravováním, sportovním zázemím, prostory studentských spolků a základní obchodní vybaveností. Návrh tak vytváří moderní studentské bydlení jako plnohodnotnou součást univerzitního kampusu, propojující obytnou a veřejnou funkci. Významným motivem návrhu je perforovaná kovová fasáda inspirovaná tradicí absolventů VUT zapisovat svá jména do veřejného prostoru v okolí areálu. Tento princip je transformován do architektonického detailu obálky budovy a vytváří symbolickou stopu studentské komunity v architektuře objektu.
The diploma thesis deals with the design of a new student housing building within the university campus of Brno University of Technology (BUT) at Pod Palackého vrchem in Brno. The project builds on an urban study developed during previous studies, which defined the basic volumetric and spatial integration of the building within the context of the existing urban fabric. The proposal responds to the insufficient capacity of student accommodation and the limited civic amenities of the area. The site is located in close proximity to several faculties of the Brno University of Technology and in contact with the natural landscape of the Medlánecké Kopce. The architectural solution is based on the urban relations of the surrounding street network and the significant slope of the site. The building mass is composed of receding floor levels that respond to the terrain configuration and gradually culminate in accessible roof terraces. A semi-public atrium is inserted into the centre of the building, functioning as a permeable communal space that connects the individual functional parts of the structure. The building accommodates 633 students across eight above-ground floors, while the underground levels provide 108 parking spaces. Student housing is designed in the form of residential units with private bathrooms and kitchen facilities. The residential function is complemented by an active ground floor containing dining facilities, sports amenities, spaces for student organisations, and basic retail services. The proposal creates a contemporary student housing complex as a fully integrated part of the university campus, combining residential and public functions. A key design element is the perforated metal façade inspired by the tradition of VUT graduates writing their names in public space around the campus. This principle is transformed into an architectural detail of the building envelope, creating a symbolic trace of the student community within the architecture of the structure.
