Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou role sestry v péči o děti s mentálním postižením během jejich hospitalizace na dětském oddělení. Hospitalizace u této specifické skupiny pacientů představuje náročnou situaci vyžadující individuální a empatický přístup personálu. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část definuje mentální postižení, ošetřovatelský proces v pediatrii, roli sestry v péči o dítě s mentální retardací a specifika komunikace s dětmi s kognitivním hendikepem. Praktická část se soustředí na vnímání profesní role sester a jejich odbornou připravenost. Hlavními cíli práce bylo zjistit roli dětské sestry při poskytování ošetřovatelské péče dětem s mentálním postižením a zmapovat, jakým způsobem jsou sestry na tuto péči odborně připravovány. Pro splnění cílů bylo zvoleno kvalitativní šetření formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se sedmi sestrami v Nemocnici České Budějovice. Získaná data byla následně analyzována a rozdělena do sedmi kategorií. Z výzkumu vyplynulo, že role sestry je významně ovlivněna přítomností rodičů, kdy sestra často ustupuje do pozice odborného technického specialisty. V oblasti komunikace sestry spoléhají především na intuici a nonverbální projevy, přičemž standardizované komunikační pomůcky využívají minimálně. Výsledky dále poukazují na skutečnost, že odborná připravenost sester je formována zejména délkou praxe, nikoliv systematickým specializačním vzděláváním. This bachelor thesis addresses the role of the nurse in caring for children with mental disabilities during their hospitalization in a pediatric department. Hospitalization for this specific group of patients represents a challenging situation that requires an individual and empathetic approach from the staff. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part defines mental disability, the nursing process in pediatrics, the role of the nurse in caring for a child with mental retardation, and the specifics of communication with children with cognitive impairments. The practical part focuses on the perception of the professional role of nurses and their professional preparedness. The main objectives of the study were to identify the role of the pediatric nurse in providing nursing care to children with mental disabilities and to map out the manner in which nurses are professionally prepared for this care. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative study was conducted in the form of semistructured interviews with seven nurses at the České Budějovice Hospital. The obtained data were subsequently analyzed and divided into seven categories. The research revealed that the nurse's role is significantly influenced by the presence of parents, where the nurse often recedes into the position of a technical specialist. In the area of communication, nurses rely primarily on intuition and non-verbal cues, while making minimal use of standardized communication aids. Furthermore, the results indicate that the professional preparedness of nurses is shaped mainly by the length of their clinical practice rather than by systematic specialized education.
