Tato práce se zabývá zkoumáním závislosti mezi nerovnováhou veřejných financí a platební bilance. Snaží se pomocí základních makroekonomických vztahů ukázat provázanost deficitu státního rozpočtu a deficitu běžného účtu a shrnout teoretické přístupy k teorii dvojího deficitu. V dalších částech se pomocí korelační a jednoduché ekonometrické analýzy pokouší ověřit, zda hypotéza dvojího deficitu platí v případě řecké a italské ekonomiky. This bachelor thesis deals with the theory of twin deficits, it tries to find a linkage between government deficit and current account deficit in Greek and Italian economy. It comprises a summary of different views on this topic in the first part. With the use of correlation analysis and basic econometric model it looks for a relation between both variables in the following parts of the thesis. The aim is to confirm or disprove the twin deficit hypothesis for those countries.
