This thesis examines the role of data stewardship at Charles University in comparison with selected member institutions of the 4EU+ Alliance. In the context of the expanding open science landscape and the growing importance of research data management, data stewards play a key role in supporting the implementation of the FAIR principles, ensuring regulatory compliance, and strengthening responsible research practices. The theoretical part defines data stewardship through a review of academic literature, international frameworks, and professional standards. It focuses on the competencies, challenges, and institutional conditions necessary for effective stewardship, including disciplinary differences in the understanding of data and the ethical and legal considerations associated with data sharing. The practical part presents a comparative analysis based on semi-structured interviews conductedwith representatives of Charles University, the Universityof Warsaw, Sorbonne University, the University of Milan, and the University of Geneva. The analysis identifies four models of data stewardship and highlights differences in their centralisation, organisational maturity, and institutional support. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rolí data stewardshipu na Univerzitě Karlově v porovnání s vybranými členskými univerzitami aliance 4EU+. V kontextu rozvoje otevřené vědy a řízení výzkumných dat nabývá role data stewardů na významu, zejména při podpoře implementace principů FAIR, zajištění souladu s právními předpisy a posilování odpovědného výzkumu. Teoretická část vymezuje pojem data stewardship na základě odborné literatury, mezinárodních rámců a profesních standardů. Soustředí se na kompetence, výzvy a institucionální předpoklady pro efektivní výkon této role, včetně disciplinárních rozdílů v pojetí dat a etických či právních aspektů jejich sdílení. Praktická část prezentuje komparativní analýzu založenou na polostrukturovaných rozhovorech se zástupci Univerzity Karlovy, Univerzity ve Varšavě, Sorbonny, Univerzity v Miláně a Univerzity v Ženevě. Analýza identifikuje čtyři modely data stewardshipu a poukazuje na jejich rozdílnou míru centralizace, institucionální zralosti a organizační podpory. Závěrečné doporučení formuluje návrhy na posílení data stewardshipu na Univerzitě Karlově prostřednictvím jasnějšího vymezení rolí, rozvoje kapacit a koordinovaného institucionálního přístupu.
