cze Abstract:
Metody s různou účinností umožňují detekci pohlavně specifických markerů, sledování diferenciace a degenerace pohlavních chromozómů, změny systémů ve fylogenetickém kontextu a určení hranic nerekombinujících oblastí. Genomické přístupy jsou klíčové nezbytné zejména u mladých systémů, kde rekombinace...(English) The evolution of sex chromosomes represents a model system for studying genome dynamics, sex determination, and the mechanisms underlying recombination suppression. This work compares current cytogenetic and genomic approaches used to investigate their evolution and evaluates their applicability across systems with varying degrees of differentiation. Particular attention is given to the potential integration of cytogenetics and genomics (cytogenomics), as well as to strategies employing both short- and long-read sequencing technologies. Methods with differing sensitivity enable the detection of sex- specific markers, the tracking of chromosomal differentiation and degeneration, the identification of transitions between sex-determining systems in a phylogenetic context, and the delineation of non-recombining regions. Recent progress in this field has been driven by advances in achieving gapless, telomere-to-telomere genome assemblies. This literature review demonstrates that next-generation genomic tools have greatly expanded the possibilities for exploring the structural and functional evolution of sex chromosomes. However, genomic results often require validation and complementation through cytogenetic approaches, which provide insights into the physical organization and meiotic behavior...
