cze Abstract:
Teoreticky práce vychází ze sociologie jídla, konceptů habitu a vkusu, teorií identity a životního stylu, karnismu, etiky zvířat, teorií stigmatizace a sociální identity. Konzumenti masa nahlížejí své stravování jako kulturně normalizovanou součást každodennosti, založenou na...Master's thesis "Food and Identity: Interaction and Mutual Definition between Vegans and Meat Eaters when Dining together" deals with how the identities of participants representing alternative lifestyles and representatives of conventional eating habits are constituted and negotiated when dining together. The text analyzes how participants experience these identities in different social contexts and what models of interaction are created at the shared table. Theoretically, the thesis draws on the sociology of food, concepts of habitus and taste, theories of identity and lifestyle, carnism, animal ethics, theories of stigmatization, and social identity. The empirical part is based on a qualitative research stratégy and thematic analysis of data obtained through semi-structured interviews. The research sample was compiled using the snowwball samplimg method and consisted of twelve young adults (6 vegans and 6 meat consumers) aged 21 to 27, who were gender-balanced. The analysis illustrates that veganism is shaped as an ethically motivated choice associated with disagreement with industrial animal production, while the transition to a plant-based diet often described as a moral shift triggered by documentary footage and supported by the influence of people close to the individual. Meat consumers view...
