This diploma thesis deals with the durability of concrete, with a focus on carbonation and freeze–thaw resistance. Two experimental studies were conducted within the scope of the thesis. The first experiment focused on evaluating the long-term development of mechanical properties of concrete, assessing the quality of the concrete surface layer, and monitoring carbonation development. The experiment involved specimens that had been stored under laboratory conditions for approximately 11 years. The determined parameters were compared with reference values obtained at the age of 28 days. The depth of natural carbonation was measured and subsequently compared with values predicted using carbonation models implemented in the FReET-D program. The second experiment aimed to determine the effect of the initial degree of saturation of test specimens on concrete degradation during freeze–thaw cycles. Test specimens made of three different concrete mixtures with varying initial saturation levels were subjected to freeze–thaw testing. The extent of damage was assessed using non-destructive methods, specifically ultrasonic and resonance methods, from which relative dynamic moduli of elasticity were calculated.
