Tato diplomová práce se zabývá historií šermu v České republice a Československu od jeho počátků až po současnost. Podrobně popisuje vývoj šermířských disciplín, změny pravidel, významné osobnosti a jejich přínos pro rozvoj tohoto sportu. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována vzniku a vývoji šermířských organizací, zejména českého a československého šermířského svazu, a jejich roli v národním i mezinárodním kontextu. Analyzovány jsou rovněž historické proměny šermu jako sportovní disciplíny, včetně jeho začlenění do olympijského hnutí a účasti československých šermířů na významných soutěžích. Práce se rovněž zaměřuje na charakteristiku jednotlivých zbraní - kordu, šavle a fleretu - jejich vývoj, technické parametry a změny pravidel v průběhu let. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována 20. století, kdy došlo k výrazným změnám ve vybavení, tréninkových metodách a organizací soutěží. Vychází ze studia historických pramenů, archivních dokumentů, webových stránek a poskytuje ucelený obraz šermu v Českých zemích a jeho vývoje v širším mezinárodním kontextu. This diploma thesis deals with the history of fencing in the Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia from its beginnings to the present day. It describes in detail the development of fencing disciplines, changes in rules, important personalities and their contribution to the development of the sport. Particular attention is paid to forming and developing fencing organizations, especially the Czech and Czechoslovak Fencing Federation, and their role in the national and international context. The historical transformations of fencing as a sporting discipline, including its integration into the Olympic movement and the participation of Czechoslovak fencers in major competitions, are also analysed. The thesis also focuses on the characteristics of individual weapons - the cord, sabre and fleret - their development, technical parameters and changes in the rules over the years. Particular attention is paid to the 20th century, when significant changes in equipment, training methods and the organization of competitions took place. It is based on the study of historical sources, archival documents, and websites. It provides a comprehensive picture of fencing in the Czech lands and its development in a wider international context.
