Abstract: The objective of the bachelor's thesis is to explain particular topics of Numerical mathematics and provide supporting Python codes for practical demonstrations. The focus lies in numerical approximation of derivatives for unequally spaced discretization points and the numerical solution of the boundary value problem for the Poisson equation. Both finite difference and finite element methods in 1D are solved, and rates of convergence are demonstrated.
