This thesis presents a comparative analysis of the ESG strategies employed by IKEA and The Home Depot, two major global retailers operating in the home furnishings and home improvement sectors. The study examines how regional regulations, market conditions, and cultural norms in Europe and the United States shape corporate sustainability strategies, reporting practices, and overall ESG performance. The methodology combines quantitative analysis of environmental, social, and governance indicators with a qualitative review of corporate sustainability reports, regulatory frameworks, and relevant academic literature. Tato diplomová práce porovnává strategie udržitelnosti a přístup k ESG ve společnostech IKEA a The Home Depot, dvou významných globálních hráčů v oblasti vybavení domácností a zlepšování bydlení. Cílem je zjistit, jak regionální regulace, tržní podmínky a kulturní prostředí v Evropě a USA ovlivňují podobu i účinnost ESG strategií a do jaké míry se tyto rozdíly promítají do výkonu firem, jejich transparentnosti a konkurenceschopnosti. Práce kombinuje kvantitativní analýzu ESG ukazatelů s kvalitativní interpretací firemních strategií založených na výročních zprávách, udržitelných reportech a dostupné literatuře.
